He knew how to side-step those topics of conversation because there was far greater value in having an actual relationship with the Soldier than taking his time to systematically force the realization that they came from the same world, his childhood inspiration had once been right out of Captain America comics, and he was a high-ranking member of HYDRA who had taken a personal hand in not doing anything to oppose how the Soldier was treated despite how uncomfortable it actually made him.
